A house for two turned into the home they always pictured: light woodgrain carpentry, glowing display niches for a lifetime of keepsakes, and soft arches that make every room flow into the next.

The brief
This 5-room resale renovation at 746 Jurong West was a journey of turning a house for two into the dream home the couple had always envisioned. Our role was to listen intently, then translate their hopes into a practical, buildable plan. They wanted warmth over showiness, storage that would swallow decades of belongings without feeling heavy, and a proper stage for the keepsakes and figurines they have collected together over the years.
The design
Light woodgrain carpentry sets the tone throughout, and it works twice as hard as it looks. Full-height storage walls run through the living and dining areas with warm backlit niches carved into them, turning fortune cats, travel souvenirs and framed photos into little gallery displays instead of clutter. A curved archway and cove-lit ceilings soften the flow between rooms, and even the entrance gets the treatment, with a wood slat panel, a bench ledge and lit shoe cabinet niches that greet guests with the owners' favourite pieces.
The kitchen pairs woodgrain and taupe cabinetry with a speckled granite worktop and a full granite backsplash, washed by under-cabinet lighting, while a glass-front display cabinet glows above the prep zone. Frosted sliding doors keep the laundry yard tucked away without darkening the space. One room became a study with an L-shaped built-in desk and lit shelving for two workstations, and the bathroom brings a playful finish: terrazzo-look tiles edged in gold trim, a round gold-framed mirror and black fittings.
