The brief
For this 5-room resale renovation at Telok Blangah Drive, breathing new life into the flat meant stripping it back to its bones and rebuilding with intention. The family wanted a home that felt genuinely grand, with the rich materials and warm glow of a boutique hotel, but never at the expense of how the space works day to day. Every luxurious surface had to earn its keep with storage behind it or a purpose within it, and their treasured framed art pieces needed a proper stage.
The design
The living hall carries the wow factor. Polished marble-look flooring runs beneath a sculpted cove ceiling that washes the room in warm indirect light, while champagne drapes frame the balcony doors. The TV feature wall in grey marble is flanked by backlit glass display cabinets, giving the family's collection of framed art and keepsakes pride of place. A fluted wood partition with a circular mirror cutout screens the entrance and wraps around into a bar-height counter, crowned by a trio of faceted copper pendants.
The dining area turns up the drama with gold damask wallpaper behind a sculptural marble dining table, and the kitchen answers in a moodier register: deep black stone-look worktops, tinted glass backsplash and champagne gloss cabinets, all traced with warm LED strips. The master bedroom pairs high-gloss champagne wardrobes with a black marble-look dresser tower, and each child's room gets its own character, from a concealed wallpapered door with a floating study desk to a textured gold feature wall with a backlit dressing ledge. Even the bathrooms keep the standard, with textured bronze tiles, gold trim inlays and matte black rain shower sets.
