The brief

For this 3-room resale renovation at Jurong West, the owners wanted a home that felt soft, bright and easy to live in for years to come. No hard edges, no trend-chasing: just a calm, cream-toned space with comfortable seating, sensible storage, and dignified places for the statues, calligraphy and keepsakes that mean the most to them. It is also the kind of project where trust mattered, and designer Ron stayed close to the family from the first discussion to well after handover.

The design

The whole flat now speaks in one gentle voice: cream walls, wood-look tile flooring and warm butter lighting, finished with classic cornices. The signature move is the set of arched doorways along the hallway, echoed by a panelled arch door, which turn an ordinary corridor into the home's most charming moment. In the living room, a floating TV console with a soft underglow runs toward the entrance, stepping up into a shoe cabinet with a bench seat, so there is always somewhere to sit and put on shoes.

The kitchen sits behind a glass partition that keeps cooking contained while daylight from the service windows still pours through to the dining table. The bedroom works harder than its size suggests, with a full wardrobe wall trimmed in light oak that wraps around into a built-in dressing and study desk. Even the arrival was designed: the corridor porch outside the front door was re-tiled in a patterned mosaic and dressed with plants, so the welcome begins before the gate.
